5 Considerations In Choosing A Pen To Write In Your Baby Photo Book Album

Are you considering putting together a baby photo book album? There are lots of things that go into a project such as this. One of the things you may not have given much consideration to, however, is the kind of pen you will be using to write in the photo album. Is that a big deal? Well, it might be. There are so many choices out there when it comes to pens, markers, colored pencils, etc., let's explore some of the options and see which one will work best for your purpose.

Things to Consider

When you're thinking about the kind of pen you're going to use to write in your baby photo book album, you might want to make a list so you don't miss anything:

  • Ink – Make sure the ink used in your photo album is non-toxic. You never know if, at some point in time, you're going to want to show this to your baby when they are old enough to understand it. Truth be told, you don't want anyone touching ink that is toxic.
  • Bleed throughs – Some inks tend to bleed through the pages you’re writing on. This will never do. Keep the ink on the precise page on which you’re writing, not bleeding through to the page in front of or behind it.
  • Erasable ink – Some pens, even though they use ink, are erasable. No matter how hard you try when you're writing, you may end up making a mistake or changing your mind about something you've written. Wouldn't it be great if you could just erase the part you want to change and fix it without any problems?
  • Comfort – It may take a while to write all of the captions, inscriptions, etc. in the photo book you're making. You want the pen you choose to feel good in your hand. It should be easy to hold – not too big and not too small – with a nice non-slip
  • Quick dry – So you don't smudge the ink while you’re writing, use a pen and ink that dries as quickly as possible.

What Are You Writing?

As briefly mentioned above, the writing you do in a baby photo book can consist of a number of things.

  • Inscription – Inside the front cover, think of something profound to say. If you're giving this as a gift, depending on the person involved and your relationship with them, you may choose this to be lighthearted and fun, serious, sentimental, silly, and more. It should drive home the fact that this is a special gift for a special person.
  • Captions – If you're making a photo album online, you can likely type in the captions you want with each picture. If you forget or your mind is made up to write them in by hand, consider naming locations, people, times, and more in each caption.
  • Closing – At the end of the book, you may decide to write a line or two to wrap up the project.
